WOW! The Axe Grinder does fabulous work!!! I brought my girlfriend's guitar in for a setup and repair for a broken knob. The guitar is a high end Jackson Soloist, which are pretty rare and made for metal shredding. The shop I previously took it to used the wrong gauge strings, messed with the bridge height and somehow broke the volume knob, so it was in serious need of fixing. Karen was friendly, accommodating, and cares about music and musicians. The guitar was ready in a couple days and plays like a heavy metal shredder's dream!!!!! The action is amazing! I'll be taking my Taylor Dreadnaught in for some work really soon. Oh yeah, almost forgot to mention the more than reasonable price.

Brought in a 12 year old guitar that had really been through the paces, worn out frets, destroyed fretboard, broken electronics. This guitar had been through quite a bit. Came off the bench shiny and clean! It plays like a new guitar again. That alone would be enough to recommend, but the service is also outstanding. Had a 60's reissue Fender bass that needed a setup. The truss rod is in a position that the neck needs to be taken on and off to adjust. Needless to say, despite the arduous proccess they got the action super low and by the next day it was done. They even polished it up, making it look pretty as ever! At Axe Grinders they are extremely friendly and affordable. I hope to take lessons from them in the near future.

Had a fantastic experience here. Karen and Dave are great. It’s a little out of the way, but this is where I’m getting my setups done from now on. I asked Dave to set up my Ibanez 540 (older Satriani model) and an Epiphone EJ 200 (jumbo acoustic) that 540 has a Floyd Rose style tremolo that most setup guys won’t touch but he set it up flawlessly and perfectly. On the Epiphone I asked him to bring the action down and the neck had been acting up (probably stretching out) as it was brand new and obviously not top of the line. That thing plays so beautifully now I haven’t touched my Takamine since. Highly recommend.

The guitars play great!

I brought in a custom guitar that I couldn't get the intonation right on. It has been worked on by some highly-respected luthiers and it was never quite right. I was very pleasantly surprised when I got the guitar back from Karen and Dave that it plays better than it ever has and the issue appears to be resolved! When I met Dave he was a man of few words so I don't know how he did it, but he is clearly very gifted. Karen was very responsive in setting the whole thing up, glad I stumbled upon them!

Karen and Dave did an awesome job on my two bass guitars which hadn't been serviced in over ten years. Dave really took the time to troubleshoot FRET buzz issues and got the necks of both basses perfectly aligned. They're also pleasant people who are very easy to work with. Holy Cow! The Tele sounds like I stole it from Roy Buchanan!! Dave built a beautiful Telecaster for me with Fender parts and a custom body made of barn wood. I had been collecting the pieces over several years. The guitar is amazing! What a sound and a twang, but also very versatile (which is one reason I love Telecasters). The action is perfect and it feels like I have had it for years. And he also took an old vintage Harmony arch top that was basically firewood and brought it back to life. It plays very nicely and it looks like a work of art. Tremendous attention to detail and workmanship on a very difficult project.. Dave and Karen use great care at every stage during a project, and they are dedicated to making every customer happy. They are the best. Thank you. Dave is a complete whiz!

Brought two guitars in for a fairly basic sound hole pickup installation. Both of those were done expertly. However I mentioned one of the guitars (a Martin guitar center model) had high action and was impossible to play out of first position. I had another repairman look at it previously and said it was within the range. When I got the guitar back it played amazing. He lowered the action and put in a bone saddle (I think it was) in it. Whatever he did the guitar sounds better than it ever sounded. That was my first time going to Dave and I will go back with any future work

It's all true! Based on your reviews, I took a chance and I'm happy I did. I started to play when I got home and it was great! I played for a couple of hours, because it was better than new.
